Hello, my name is Joshua Basso, and I’m honored to serve as the Chair of the IEEE USF Student Branch. I’m currently a senior at the University of South Florida, pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering with specializations in Energy, Power, and Sustainability, as well as Mechatronics.
Since joining IEEE in 2022, I’ve had the opportunity to grow within the organization, first as the Electrathon Chair, and now as Chair. Throughout my time here, I’ve seen the incredible impact that a well-run engineering organization can have, and I’m committed to taking that even further.
This year, my vision is to reinvigorate IEEE at USF and shape it into a more effective, accessible, and career-focused organization. That means expanding outreach, hosting more transparent and engaging events, and building meaningful partnerships with leading companies and professionals.
My goal is to ensure that every student who engages with IEEE walks away with the skills, connections, and confidence to take the next step in their career whether that’s landing an internship, securing a job, or simply finding their place in the world of engineering.
I’m excited for what’s ahead, and I look forward to growing together with all of you.
Hello, my name is Nathan and I am proud to serve as the IEEE Vice Chair for this school year. I am a senior studying Business Management but have been involved with IEEE at USF since my freshman year.

Hey, my name is Abdul Jabbar, and I am a senior majoring in Electrical Engineering at the University of South Florida with a focus in Mechatronics and Micro and Nano systems. As the Professional Development Chair of IEEE USF, I am dedicated to helping our members bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations. My role focuses on organizing workshops, networking events, industry panels, resume reviews, and technical skill-building sessions that empower students to grow professionally and confidently step into their careers. By collaborating with faculty, companies, and alumni, I aim to create opportunities that expose students to emerging technologies, career pathways in electrical engineering, and best practices in job preparation. Whether you're looking to improve your resume, sharpen your interview skills, or connect with professionals in your field, IEEE USF is here to support your journey beyond the classroom.
Electrathon is a student-led, multidisciplinary engineering organization dedicated to the end-to-end development of custom-built electric vehicles for competitive racing. Comprised of students from electrical, mechanical, and computer engineering backgrounds, the club provides hands-on experience in the design, construction, testing, and optimization of lightweight, energy-efficient racecars.
Our team emphasizes innovation in battery pack design, advanced power management, and real-world integration of low-power embedded systems. Recent developments include a secondary power subsystem that supports onboard features such as real-time data logging, integrated camera systems, safety lighting, and auxiliary electronics. These technologies not only enhance performance and safety but also demonstrate the practical application of energy systems engineering.
Gain experience in CAD design, PCB development, power electronics, and race-day fun!
Hey, my name is Eun, and I’m a junior majoring in Electrical Engineering at USF with a focus in Mechatronics and Wireless Systems. As the VEX Robotics Chair, I lead BULL 1, a team of dedicated builders and engineers with a shared goal: to design and build competitive robots that push the limits of what's possible in VRC (Vex Robotics Competition). Since our founding in 2020, we’ve competed across the country at university-level tournaments and at VEX Worlds in Dallas, and we’ve even hosted major events like the 2023 Florida West Coast State Championship. Each season, we build two robots from the ground up—strategizing, designing, and refining with one mission in mind: to out-engineer the competition. My role includes guiding the entire development process—from concept to competition—and supporting our team members as they grow into creative, capable engineers. I’m proud to be part of a team that not only aims to innovate in every match but also works to inspire the next generation of robotics leaders.

Hello, I'm a developer and maker who enjoys working across both hardware and software. My projects often blend embedded systems, simple graphical interfaces, and physical controls to create practical, interactive tools. I’m comfortable moving between low-level programming and higher-level application development, always looking for ways to make things efficient, user-friendly, and reliable.
