EXO was established in Spring 2025 with the goal of being integrated into IEEE. We hope to develop an EXO suit that will help the elderly, patients in PT, and possibly for construction use. We hope to have more information up soon!
Our goals and ambitions for this group are to design and create an Exoskeletal frame that can enhance human ability to do work. This is NOT a suit that will be able to lift 400 lbs. or run Mach speed; however, it will be a suit that can greatly enhance the endurance of the user and assist the user in day-to-day activities. The Research Group will be divided into 3 distinct groups.
The Structural and Frame design group: This group is responsible for the design of the exoskeletal system upon which the rest of the project will be built.
Actuators/Movement Controller group: This group is responsible for the research and application of how the suit will be moved and operated. Using a combination of Electric motors, pneumatic actuators, and hydraulic cylinders, this group will use all three to fully flesh out the movement control of the exosuit.Â
Suit Communications group: This group will be responsible for the research and development of the "Brain" of our suit. How the motors, sensors, and gyroscopes in the suit will interact with each other to create a smooth platform to operate on for the user.
